The scenario was based on one of the popular “Tales of the Robots” by Stanisław Lem under the same title.
The character – the brave robot Ferrix, falls in love with a beautiful princess Crystal. However, the princess, despite she is a robot (a robot girl?), would rather marry a bladawiec, i.e. a human, and ruthlessly eliminates all non human suitors. The reasons for this aberration are the impenetrable mystery for the robots, especially since the human race is the biggest enemy of the robot civilisation. However, disregarding the danger Ferrix decides to win Crystal’s heart by dressing up as… a human.
The story of the robot in love is an excuse for presenting history of mankind in form of a satire: from the beginning of life on Earth to the age of Space explorers. Grotesque and humour are mixed with a serious reflection on the condition of the contemporary man. In the end, however – as it is often the case with Lem’s prose – what prevails is an air of good-natured and calm reflection – it’s a style of detachment, which is far from being pompous. It’s created mostly by the specific language, connecting the old-fashioned fairytale style with the modern scientific and technical terminology.
Our show will share those traits with the story, being amusing, rather than gloomy, sometimes funny though not shallow, and sometimes calling for reflection.
