Alexandria, the first century AD. The priest lights a fire on the altar in front of the temple, and the doors open on their own! This amazing phenomenon was the execution of an idea by Heron, a Greek inventor. Ancient concepts are being developed by contemporary projects based on the properties of air under pressure. Work is underway on Elon Musk’s super-fast rail concept, HyperLoop, which can travel at a speed of 1,000 km per hour – all thanks to pneumatics.
In class, you will learn about the role of air in the industry, and how to design, install and control compressed air systems.
