The Festival of Discovery combines two prestigious competitions – the EU Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) oraz Fizyczne Ścieżki (Physical Paths). The aim of both of these contests is supporting talented students and promoting interest in science among the youth, encouraging them to start a career in science.
The Festival enables young people to meet each other, as well as to initiate scientific contacts with their peers and potential mentors – employees of Polish universities and research institutes.
This is also a perfect opportunity for you to meet young people who are passionate about science, listen about their research and see their projects that impress scientists with many years of experience. The works will be presented in the form of a poster gallery (EUCYS), as well as scientific demonstration (Physical Paths), and they will surely teach you a lot and inspire you to embark on your personal journey to discovery.
A similar idea – taking advantage of the scientific method – is used in the Young Explorer’s Clubs network operating under the auspices of the Copernicus Science Centre. These are places, where young researchers and experimenters learn how to state their own hypotheses, for example by conducting mini research projects, and verify them by conducting experiments. Such an approach helps them develop many competencies and skills, allows to bridge the gaps between a variety of school subjects and shows that making mistakes can be beneficial, because it teaches us how to solve problems.
For many years, the representatives of the Clubs and the Copernicus Science Centre have been working with the National Fund for Children, by participating in joint workshops and conferences. This year’s Festival of Discovery will be yet another opportunity to meet the group of particularly active Young Explorer’s Clubs supervisors.
15th of April, from 10:30 a.m. Admission to the event is free.
