The opening ceremony was attended by 900 guests. At 20:30, the guests watched multimedia astronomical presentations - Pecha Kucha ‘My Heaven’. An hour and a half later, there was Urszula Dudziak’s concert ‘The Heaven of Sounds’. It was an improvised musical tale from the borderline of jazz, classical and electronic music — a tale about a world in which every star represents a distinct sound, and when put all together, they constitute celestial harmony. At 23:00, the audience watched the illumination of the planetarium’s dome, accompanied by a video presentation projected on the side of the building.
For the occasion, the special events were also prepared by PKO Bank Polski - the exclusive partner of the planetarium. In the luminous, spherical tent, the audience could paint with light, design graffiti, and even take a picture of oneself dressed as an astronaut. Szymon Majewski run a lottery with prizes.
During the official part, we had the pleasure of hosting the Mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Barbara Kudrycka, the Japanese ambassador, Yuichi Kusumoto, the Managing Director of Sky-Skan - Glenn Smith, the Chief Executive of PKO BP - Zbigniew Jagiełło, and many others.
The planetarium will be open to the public from 21 June 2011. Sky shows and a variety of films will be projected on the spherical screen of the 16-metre diameter.
