We are proud to inform you that one of the members of our Programme Council was nominated in the Scientist/Science Institution category of the 8thedition of the ‘Popularyzator Nauki’ [‘Science Promoter’] competition organised by the Science & Scholarship Portal of the Polish Press Agency and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Professor Henryk Skarżyński is a Polish otolaryngologist, founder and director of the Warsaw Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing and the International Centre for Hearing and Speech in Kajetany. Twenty years ago, as the first in Poland and Central Europe, he carried out a cochlear implant surgery, restoring the sense of hearing to a deaf person. Professor Henryk Skarżyński is the author and co-author of many scientific papers, supervisor of doctoral dissertations and habilitations, and a member of Polish and foreign scientific societies. His long-term efforts related to social education, as well as exceptional organisational skills have brought about a measurable effect: changes in the statistics of cured hearing impairments.
We congratulate him on his nomination and keep our fingers crossed.
The competition’s finals are scheduled for 5 December this year.
