Astronomical spring began on 20th March, exactly at 12:02 Polish time. What does it mean? For us this means in practice that the northern hemisphere of the Earth is exposed more to the Sun, while the southern one is exposed less. Therefore, days in our hemisphere get longer and it is getting warmer. This day is also called the spring equinox by astronomers because both the day and night last for 12 hours almost on the entire Earth.
With the coming of spring, we invite you to the spring shows of "The Sky Over Warsaw", which are now available also in the English language version. As always, we are going to observe visible constellations together, but this spring will also be marked by trip. During the shows, we are going to check if the sky looks the same everywhere, we are going to get to the edge of our Galaxy, and in the footsteps of wanderers and sailors, we are going to follow Polaris and give a hint how to find it easily. We are also going to visit the southern hemisphere of the Earth to see a distant, old cluster of stars with the Southern African Large Telescope.
