Humans and the Environment
This largest section of the Centre’s permanent exhibition is about all of us i.e. about Homo sapiens. Here we’ll invite visitors inside their own bodies. You will be able to investigate your body’s capabilities and – at will – compare them with other people’s capabilities or with those of different animal species. You’ll find out how a man influences the environment and how – in turn – the environment influences us. In this section one will be able to:
- look inside the human body and watch internal organs or skeleton; all you’ll have to do is to put on a special apron;
- check out what happens when bones have too little calcium or when they loose their elasticity; screen your sight and hearing, define your stress level;
- perform virtual operations on a real operation table;
- check out whether you’re as perceptive as a fly? Whether you can outrun a hippopotamus or a gazelle? Whether you jump as far as a hare? Or maybe whether you can hang on one hand as long as a monkey?
- see how will we look in 20, 40, 80 years, thanks to an unusual machine;
- lay down on thousands of sharp nails sticking out from a fakir’s bed and check whether it’s comfortable.
The section “Humans and the Environment” is being implemented. It’s being prepared by a consortium of two Dutch companies: Bruns and NorthernLight, winners of a tender decided In November 2006.
