
Programme Council
- Prof. Łukasz Turski – Chairman of the Programme Council. Professor of theoretical physics at the Centre for Theoretical Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, and at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences – College of Sciences, Cardinal Wyszyński University in Warsaw. An eminent promoter of popular-science awareness, the author of well over 100 research publications and numerous public commentary articles. He has hosted popular-science radio and TV programs. Initiator of the Warsaw Science Picnic and the Copernicus Science Centre. He won the 2000 European Physical Society Medal for Public Understanding of Physics.
- Prof. Aleksander Bursche – Archaeologist, initiator and organizer of the Archaeological Festival in Biskupin. Professor at Warsaw University, co-organizer of the "Holiest Places on Earth" multimedia project. Member of the Committee on Ancient Culture, Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Committee for Preserving Lutheran Cemetery Monuments in Warsaw (affiliated with the Polish Society for Preserving Monuments).
- Prof. Magdalena Fikus – Professor of molecular biology, lecturer at many prestigious Polish higher-education institutions. A member of Polish Academy of Sciences committees on: Biochemistry and Biophysics, Biotechnology, and Microbiology. An eminent promoter of popular-science awareness. Co-creator and co-organizer of the Warsaw Science Festival, chairwoman of its Programme Council. Member of the international association EUSCEA.
- Prof. Maciej Geller – Biophysicist, staff member at the Warsaw University Institute of Experimental Physics, studies the properties of the spatial structures of biopolymers (nucleic acids and proteins) and their complexes, efficient drug design, theoretical computer modelling methods, molecular quantum mechanics, molecular mechanics and dynamics. Co-creator and director of the Warsaw Science Festival.

Prof. Witold Karczewski – Outstanding neurophysiologist. Held many positions, including chairman of the Council of the Polish Foundation for the Advancement of Science, a member of the Committee on Ethics in Science, Polish Academy of Sciences, and for many years employed at the Medical Research Centre, Polish Academy of Sciences.
- Adam Kilian – Artist, scenographer, graphic designer, illustrator, and animator. Since 1948 he has worked at the Lalka Theatre. In 50 years of artistic activity he has designed more than 300 productions staged by drama, opera, and puppet theatres in Poland and abroad. One of the most outstanding Polish scenographers, he also holds large exhibitions, domestically and in foreign countries. He has won many individual awards for scenography and graphic design.
- Prof. Krzysztof Konarzewski – A specialist in pedagogy (the theory of socialization) and social psychology. Deputy director of the Institute of Psychology and member of the Committee on Psychological Sciences, Polish Academy of Sciences.
- Prof. Krzysztof Pomian – Professor of history, specializing in the history of European culture. Staff member at the Department of the History of Art and Culture at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
- Prof. Jarosław Marek Rymkiewicz - Poet, translator, playwright, essayist, literary critic and historian. Staff member at the Institute of Literary Research, Polish Academy of Sciences. He has translated Anglo-American and Spanish poetry and published collections of essays on Mickiewicz, Słowacki, Fredro, and Leśmian.
- Prof. Tadeusz Skośkiewicz – Professor of experimental physics at the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, and at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences – College of Sciences, Cardinal Wyszyński University in Warsaw. A world-class specialist in low-temperature physics. Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, and organizer of Polish presentations at the "Physics on Stage" festival in Geneva.
- Prof. Piotr Słonimski – Geneticist, since 1947 he has been working as a scientist in France at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), where he set up the Centre of Molecular Genetics in 1967. Since 1992 he has held the post of the Centre's honorary director. He is a member of the French Academy of Sciences, Academia Europaea, the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 1984 he obtained the Légion d'honneur, followed one year later by the CNRS's highest award, its gold medal.
- Prof. Aleksander Wolszczan – Astronomer, discoverer of the first planets outside our Solar System. Since 1992 he has done research and taught as professor of astronomy and astrophysics at Penn State University as well as at his own alma mater, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
