No centre in the world will have a similar gallery. Re: generation is addressed to older teens and early twenty-somethings (i.e. aged 17-25). This is a time when such individuals are seeking their own identity, trying to understand themselves and others, embarking on adult private and professional lives, and trying to find their place in the world, all with a desire to change the world. The themes of this exhibition will be geared for this demanding group.
Re: generation Visualizations

In Re: generation we will take a look at our own emotions, explore how both interpersonal relations and man-machine interactions are developing and changing. Visitors are encouraged to discover connections within a group and dependencies among whole societies. We will learn about how thoughts and feelings can be seen, how the language of men and women differs, and whether the brain can be controlled. We will study how the modern world functions and what directions it might take in the future. We will explore the latest fields of science and technology like biotechnology and IT (information technology). We will investigate new methods of generating energy, "intelligent" materials, and how to store energy and put state-of-the-art robots to work. We will strive to find answers to questions about our planet's future (What would finding extraterrestrial life would mean for mankind? Would that change our view of the universe and our own species?). Through open experimentation, where the outcome is not known in advance and depends on the individual performing it, the experiments in this gallery will motivate visitors to think and act for themselves. By addressing the intriguing issues, doubts, and problems now faced by science, Re: generation will inspire visitors to seek new solutions and encourage their creativity.
Here we will carry out experiments in four sections:
ME: ME-YOU:
- Neurobiology - The world of gestures
- Focusing attention, thought processes, learning, and memory - Couples and families
- Emotions - Multimedia communication, robotics
- Personality, differences between people, stress
- Biological mechanisms of behaviour
and developmental psychology
ME-US-THEM: ME-WORLD:
- The individual in society - Bionics, new sources of energy, new materials
- Functioning in a group - Advertising and marketing
- Biotechnology and society - The modern media
- Cultural anthropology, ethnology
- Space exploration
The exhibition will be organized as an attractive game, which will involve performing successive experiments within a selected field. This game can be started on the Centre's website before visiting, and then completed after returning home. For some of the experiments visitors will be able to use their own cell phone to connect to the exhibits and the exhibition's server.
In November 2008, a tender for the design and execution of this exhibition was won by the German company Archimedes. Re: generation will be open for experimentation in the end of 2010, when the second module of the Copernicus Science Centre building is launched.
