Interaction designer and researcher of complex systems. The head and co-creator of postgraduate studies at CreativeCoding.pl, breaking the barrier between art, design, science, and technology in an anti-disciplinary way. Belongs to the School of Form staff at SWPS University. Analysed techno-social systems, researched the social influence in relations mediated by technology. Cooperated, among others, with Florida Atlantic University, Ammerman Center for Art and Technology in Connecticut, Institute for Scientific Interchange Foundation Torino, Columbia University, and Institute of Computer Science at PAN. Constructed tools used now by the United Nations and West Point. Creator of the term and manifesto „code matter”, suggesting a new approach to code – the source text of a computer program – as to a kind of material that can be shaped by experiencing. Bartkowski's visualisations and interactive installations were presented, among others, in Museum of Modern Art, Contemporary Art Centre, Zachęta, and Artothek Munich.
He's the laureate of DESIGN ALIVE AWARDS 2018 in the Animator category for expanding the horizon of contacts between interactive technology and the humanities, design, and art.
