The Living Library is a unique space for face-to-face meetings and conversations, where instead of paper books we “borrow” people – Living Books.
Our guests are representatives of minority groups and groups at risk of discrimination. Every day they face the risk of being misunderstood, surrounded by ignorance that breeds resentment and exclusion. They come to the Living Library to foster a more empathetic reality by sharing their experiences. Readers will have the chance to explore diversity and confront their own assumptions.
Where does a person experiencing homelessness sleep? Why did a refugee come to Poland? Why didn’t an Arab woman marry a Pole? What is it like to live with HIV, with ADHD, with a mental illness – and can people in such situations be a threat to others?
A conversation with a Living Book is an opportunity to hear first-hand accounts and perspectives from people we rarely get to meet, to learn about lives we usually only know through the media – and to challenge our own perceptions.
Don’t judge a book by its cover – talk to it.
