Expo 2000 DJ Set

  • Where: Level 1
  • When: 3 October, 9:00 PM – 11:00 PM

A Gdańsk-based beatmaker and DJ known for his creative approach to sound and setting new directions. Particularly fond of working with classic samples, his productions explore atmospheric sounds – from the 1990s boom bap, through smoky lo-fi to jazzy trip-hop.

The mini-album Hustle As Usual, released with rapper Belmondawg in 2021, achieved the status of Gold Album and was awarded EP of the Year at the Polish Hip Hop Music Awards. In 2024, Expo released a production album entitled ad hoc, on which he more broadly defines his specific style. In 2025, he released a duet album with singer nath entitled oxox resulting from the exploration of new sounds together.

He is the originator and host of the HEADZ series of beatmaking workshops. He preceded with his sets concerts by artists such as GZA and The Alchemist. He collaborated with legends of the Polish scene such as Michał Urbaniak, Skalpel, Kury and Liroy.

Skalpel AV set

  • Where: Planetarium
  • When: 4 October, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Tickets sold out.

For years, Skalpel combined inspiration from the local jazz tradition with a fascination with the possibilities of new electronics. The first two releases by the duo Marcin Cichy / Igor Pudło: Scalpel and Konfusion, recorded for the Ninja Tune label, resulted in concerts all over the world and garnered excellent reviews in prestigious music titles: from NME through Pitchfork, The Wire to DJ Magazine. The albums from the Ninja Tune catalogue are now classed as jazztronics classics, while the subsequent Transit (2014), Highlight (2020) and Origins (2022) are an exquisite update and modification of the duo’s unique analogue-digital sound. The latter items were released internationally thanks to a collaboration with the iconic label !K7 Records (Tosca, Tricky, among others).

Skalpel’s albums hit the Polish Olis best-seller list, while vinyl editions are bought up by collectors from the furthest corners of the globe. The artists are winners of such awards as the Fryderyk, the Passport of Polityka, the Man with the Golden Ear and the Wrocław Artistic Award. They were also recognised with a nomination for the BBC Gilles Peterson Award.

JANKA

  • Where: Planetarium
  • When: 5 October, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM

The event is ticketed: tickets.kopernik.org.pl

It is a project that had to happen because it was born out of a musical friendship between some of the most original figures of the Polish electronic scene. The production duo is Daniel Drumz and Hatti Vatti. They are separated by almost 500 kilometres (Kraków – Sopot), but what they have in common is, among other things, a love of analogue equipment, sampling, classic club aesthetics, dub and a fascination with the 1990s.

JANKA is not just about studio recordings, because the idea from the beginning was to play live. During concerts, the artists use mainly analogue equipment – modular synthesisers, old echo tape samplers and drum machines. Every performance is different, there is always plenty of room left for improvisation, but one thing is certain – it is hard to stand still. For the past few years, JANKA was exploring the spaces between rave, dubtechno, jungle, classic dub and minimalist Japanese ambient – in its own, highly original style.

They had their vinyl and cassette works released by established labels such as Japan’s Newdubhall, the UK’s The Moth Club, Poland’s Outlines or U Know Me and the Czech Republic’s Yuku. They collaborated with the Japanese producer CRZKNY, Kacha Kowalczyk (Coals), Sujka (Iwona Król) or the duo Jazxing. They gave concerts all over Europe and Japan, both in clubs and on large festival stages (such as New Music and Open’er).

The visuals for the Planetarium concerts were prepared especially for the occasion by a team of students of the Department of New Media Arts at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology: Darya Budkina, Ludwika Białkowska, Zofia Gałązka, Eliz Kolat, Karolina Krygicz, Umay Mulazimoglu, Nika Pilipenka, Daria Prasolova, Daria Salash, Maria Sidorova, Yana Shamshur, Weronika Wiśniewska, Tong Quoc Viet
