Programme:

At the Przemiany Festival 2026, we will be exploring the impact of technological development on people and their cognitive abilities. We will consider what understanding is, how to distinguish between information and interpretation, and where the line lies between supporting thinking and delegating it to algorithms. We will also discuss the future of humankind: its role, place and responsibility in the creation of knowledge, meaning and new ideas. 

The festival exhibition ‘Translating Algorithms’ is an attempt to capture how AI interprets the world for us. You’ll see a robot searching for a needle in a haystack, a computer-generated image of human breath, photographs extended beyond the frame by a generated background, and a record of a new language created by a neural network. 

At the demonstration stations, you’ll have the chance to try out a number of programmes and apps. You’ll learn how they work – you’ll see for yourselves how AI systems learn, recognise faces and construct sentences. You’ll play GO against a robot and create ‘memory patterns’ using the Polish language model Bielik.

During the debates and meetings, we will discuss how AI is transforming science, culture and everyday life. We will discuss the most important skills today – inquisitiveness, an ability to spot falsehoods, the ability to cope with uncertainty, cognitive flexibility and the ability to think outside the box. We will seek to answer the question of how to design reliable, transparent and trustworthy AI systems.
